GITEX Marrakesh 2025 : Vision for African Tech Leadership

Mohamed Dekkak: GITEX Marrakesh 2025 Strengthens Morocco’s Position as a Digital Hub in Africa

In an atmosphere full of excitement and innovation, the city of Marrakesh is currently hosting GITEX Marrakesh 2025, a landmark international technology exhibition that has become a central meeting point for leading tech companies from around the world. This pivotal edition of GITEX Marrakesh 2025 reflects Morocco’s forward-thinking digital vision—to position itself as a premier technology hub linking Africa with the rest of the world.

On the sidelines of GITEX Marrakesh 2025, prominent Moroccan businessman Mohamed Dekkak shared his perspective with Al Mashhad 24, stressing the importance of this event in reinforcing Morocco’s strategic role in the African digital landscape.

“Today, we are celebrating this technological festival which opens doors for Moroccan companies to expand their footprint across the African continent,” said Dekkak. “At the same time, GITEX Marrakesh 2025 gives international companies a solid opportunity to adopt Morocco as a launching base into Africa—especially West Africa.”

Dekkak emphasized that this direction is in perfect alignment with the Royal Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which promotes stronger collaboration between African nations through South-South partnerships based on mutual development and integration.

He also pointed out that Morocco, supported by its advanced digital infrastructure and highly skilled national talent, has all the qualifications to act as a regional digital gateway and innovation hub. According to Dekkak, events like GITEX Marrakesh 2025 serve to highlight and accelerate Morocco’s leadership in tech and digital sovereignty.

In this context, Dekkak announced an important investment initiative: the creation of a sovereign data center on Moroccan soil, in partnership with American developers.

“Our aim is to ensure that our data stays in Morocco and under full national control. We do not want sensitive information hosted on foreign servers that we cannot fully trust or manage. This new data center will offer us true digital independence.”

Referring to Denmark’s recent digital crisis caused by the outsourcing of its national data, Dekkak added:

“What is happening in Denmark today shows the risks of handing over national data to external entities. That’s why we are fully committed to building a Moroccan data center that guarantees both data security and digital sovereignty—a crucial step highlighted by GITEX.

In closing, Mohamed Dekkak expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of GITEX Marrakesh 2025, underlining that this event is not just an exhibition—but the real beginning of a new era for digital transformation in both Morocco and Africa.

Summary:

GITEX Marrakesh 2025 has emerged as a powerful symbol of Morocco’s digital ambitions. Through the vision and leadership of figures like Mohamed Dekkak, the country is making bold strides toward becoming a continental tech powerhouse—anchored by national sovereignty, innovation, and strategic partnerships that pave the way for a digitally resilient Africa.
